CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY

CST is a gentle hands-on technique that uses a light touch to examine membranes and movement of the fluids in and around the central nervous system.

What is Craniosacral Therapy (CST)?

Craniosacral therapy is a highly effective light-touch therapy that works with the whole body and the source of pain and dysfunction simultaneously. Our bodies do an amazing job of finding ways to work around the stresses and strains caused by traumatic life experiences, such as chronic stress, falls, illnesses, and surgeries.

When a workaround is no longer effective, or the body has too many of them to comfortably function, we can feel pain, discomfort, or stiffness. Because each person has a unique set of experiences and created compensation patterns, each session requires a highly individualized approach.

How does Craniosacral Therapy work?

Using light, focused touch the deep structures of the body are accessed via gentle contact with the connective tissues, which surround and connect all of the muscles and bones and all the parts of your nervous system.

Therapists’ hands are trained to feel and monitor changes in the body’s tissues to a high degree of sensitivity. The changes in the body’s tissues are followed with the therapist’s hands, rather than making the decision to move a person’s body in any given direction. This allows the areas of restrictions that are causing pain, dysfunction, and limitation are then allowed to release.

What are the benefits of Craniosacral Therapy?

Due to its gentle application, ability to strengthen resistance to disease, and effectiveness for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction, CST can be effective and used for all ages.

CST is the perfect complement to a medical treatment program, a preventative health care program, or a wellness program.

What to expect from a session?

A Craniosacral Therapy session takes place in a quiet, private setting. You remain fully clothed as you relax on a massage table. Gentle touch is applied at various parts of your head and body to monitor the rhythm of the fluid that is flowing around your central nervous system.

By carefully listening with the hands to locate areas of weak fluid flow or tissue motion, potential areas of weakness can be traced through the body to the original source of dysfunction. Delicate manual techniques are then used to release those problem areas, and improve the form and function of your central nervous system. A session can last up to an hour or more. It can be used alone or integrated with other therapies to facilitate changes.
